Launch of an 800V fast-charging station

AVL Software and Functions developed an 800V fast-charging station as a prototype and now put it into operation.
It achieves 50 kW and provides DC charging. With that, it’s possible to charge our AVL Coup-e 800 to 85% in less than 20 minutes. That equals to about 6 km per minute.
The Rapid Charger is equipped with the CCS plug, also called Combo 2. Interface and communications work following the standards IEC 15118 and IEC 61851.
The charging station can be configured to up to 160 kW. An app for tablets and smartphones enables remote monitoring of the charging process. The charging station isn’t only for the public, but also supports our clients in the field of development and fleet operations. Its purpose extends to cars, busses and medium-weight trucks.
