The NEFTON project represents a significant step forward in addressing the reduction of CO2 emissions in freight transport through electrified trucks. Recently, AVL Software and Functions GmbH, in collaboration with esteemed partners from industry and science, successfully presented the world’s first public demonstration of a Megawatt Charging System (MCS) with over 1,000 kW. This milestone event, held at the Technology Campus of the Technische Hochschule Deggendorf in Plattling, showcased one of the first bidirectional charging stations in operation.
The event, attended by Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, Hubert Aiwanger, highlighted the immense potential of this technology. Thanks to the innovative MCS and the truck prototype from MAN Truck & Bus SE, it’s now possible to charge batteries during legally mandatory breaks, ensuring that trucks can continue their journeys without delay.
The success of this demonstration is a proof to the excellent teamwork and outstanding performance of the entire project team over several months. As our CEO, Anton Angermaier, noted during the commissioning, this achievement was the result of close collaboration with our partners, including Technische Hochschule Deggendorf, MAN Truck & Bus SE, PEA, and many others. Together, we are paving the way for a more sustainable future in freight transport.
Together, we can achieve anything!
