Last year marked a major achievement for the BMWK funded NEFTON project. In July 2024, the consortium successfully conducted the first public megawatt charging of an electric truck, delivering over 1000 kW in Plattling, Bavaria.

The AVL team played a critical role by developing the control unit and software for the Megawatt Charging System (MCS).

What’s new in 2025?

Building on that success, we are now integrating bidirectional charging into our control system. This next-generation feature unlocks powerful benefits:

  • Reduced Energy Costs
  • Enhanced Grid Stability
  • Emergency Backup Power
  • Smarter Fleet Management

Our updated software has successfully passed Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing. It’s now being rolled out on our portable rapid charger for final system-level testing. A key step to demonstrate real-world bidirectional charging capabilities.

Stay tuned for live demonstrations and further updates.
